EASY ORIGAMI IN ARTS

I know that it´s being dificcoult getting the arts book so these days we are going to do Origami.

WHAT IS ORIGAMI?
Origami is the Japanese word for paper folding. ORI means to fold and KAMI means paper. Together, they form the word, "origami." It is an art form that has been handed down from parent to child through many generations. Origami involves the creation of paper forms usually entirely by folding. Animals, birds, fish, geometric shapes, puppets, toys and masks are among the models that even very young children can learn to make in just one sitting.

Rachel Katz is a famous teacher in New York. She is working with Origami for the last 30 years and she tell us some of the benefits about using origami. Below is a list of just some of these benefits:

WELCOME TO P.E IN ENGLISH: ROUTINES AND VOCABULARY

This year physical education is being in English. As I always say, I am not an English teacher, I am a physical Education teacher with a C1 level in English language so, as I am not a native speaker I will problably make some mistakes.

The main purposes of using English in our lessons is to improve vocabulary, to communicate with each other in a comfortable environment out of the classroom.

In P.E class the students are more relaxed and they try to express themselves easily.

They are going to do the routines in English, they are going to listen the game´s instructions in English ( I am teaching first and second grade and it´s really difficult for them to understand everything), but as a P.E teacher my main goals are: kids have to move, play, and enjoy, not learning English. Unfortunately, kids in Spain only have 1 hour and half per week, P.E lessons, so I need to give relevance to the physical objetives.

The first month of lessons has just finished and I want to let you know the vocabulary that we are using in our classes:

First:
when the teacher gets to class kids should be waiting sitting down and relaxed. Then, they must go to the line ( LINE UP), in list order, and they will go to the gym.

Second:
In the gym they make a circle (boy-girl-boy-girl...) to start the warm up.

Third : WARM UP

NATURAL SCIENCE: UNIT 3

In this unit we are going to study two important process that happen in our body: RESPIRATION and NUTRITION.


RESPIRATION:

Firstly, I want to show you some pictures that explain the process and the different parts involved:

NUTRITION

Everybody knows that one of the most important processes in our body is nutrition. That´s because we can control which things we must eat.
It is very important to form healthy habits when you are a child.
We must teach you how to eat, and how to do exercise if we want you to be a healthy person in the future. In this unit we are working on our healthy diet and you shouldn't forget these things:

- You must eat five meals a day:
     1) Breakfast
     2) Morning snack
     3) Lunch.
     4) Afternoon snack
     5) Dinner.

- You must drink lots of water everyday.

- You must not abuse sugar, red meat and lipids.

- You must eat vegetables and fruits everyday.

- You must drink milk.

- You must eat fish and meat two or three times per week.

LEARNING ENGLISH COULD BE FUN!!

I have always believed that the main problem to learn a language was that teachers made English boring. Nowadays, I think this way of teaching is changing. Maybe teachers in 2015 are more qualified than thirty years ago, or maybe we have definitely realized that we had to change something to engange children to English language.

When I was a child I used to hate English.  Even in high school I always had problems with this subjet, but right now I really like English and I tell my students how lucky they are for having these kinds of teachers who make English attractive to them.

For all of the students that want to improve their listening skills, I want to show you some game called lyricstraining. You can practice your English with your favourite songs. UNIT 2 NATURAL SCIENCE: FIVE SENSES AND BONES

Here we go!!
First of all I would like to share with you ( all the parents of our school) our new motto (slogan):

NO PAIN, NO GAIN ( sin esfuerzo no hay recompensa), we can´t forget this sentence and we have to keep in mind everytime I sit on my desk for studying.

This unit is not very complicated so I only want to leave you some pictures and 2 or 3 videos to review the most important vocabulary of the unit. I found also one game to learn bones of the body and it is not very dificoult so may be you can try and play. This is the game:

BALONCESTO EL PRIMER DEPORTE DEL CURSO!!

El primer deporte que hacemos en el cole es el baloncesto y nada mejor para motivaros que unas imágenes del que en mi humilde opinión ha sido el mejor jugador de la historia Michael Jordan.
Estos días buceando por la red encontré dos documentales que no había visto de Jordan que creo pueden gustaros.



En este segundo además de las imágenes de sus increíbles jugadas también hablan sus compañeros y rivales:


Como iba diciendo... nuestro primer deporte es el baloncesto y antes de poder empezar a jugar lo primero que tenemos que hacer es tener un poco de dominio sobre el balón. Así pues con 5º y 6º dividiremos la unidad en dos partes 5 o 6 sesiones de trabajo técnico en el que trabajaremos por estaciones conceptos como el bote, el dribling, el reverso, el tiro, la entrada a canasta, etc... y la segunda parte donde haremos un pequeño mini torneo entre los cursos. Los equipos serán de 3 integrantes mixtos y jugaremos todos contra todos a partidos de 5 o 7 minutos. Al final haremos una clasificación y los ganadores de 6º se enfrentarán a los ganadores de 5º en el recreo con todos los niños como espectadores.

BILINGUAL PROJECT

BASKETBALL: HISTORY AND VOCABULARY


Basketball is played by millions of people, both men and women, in all parts of the world. Professional basketball is watched by millions more on TV. The game is played between two teams, with five players per team allowed on the court at any one time. Points are scored by getting the ball through a hoop called 'the goal' or 'the basket', and the team scoring the most points wins.


History
In 1891, Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian physical education instructor at YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA, decided to create a new indoor game to keep his students fit during the cold winter months. He experimented with a team game in which players threw a soccer ball to each other and scored by throwing it into a peach basket nailed high on a wall. Later that year he wrote the first version of the rules of what he now called 'Basket Ball'. In 1906, the baskets were replaced by metal hoops in front of backboards. The ball still had to pass through the hoop from above to score a goal, however, as it did when baskets were used.

The game soon spread to other U.S. schools and universities. In the early twentieth century, basketball competitions and leagues were set up all over North America, but most didn't last long. Then, in 1946, the Basketball Association of America (BAA) was formed to organize the top professional teams in the U.S.A. and Canada into one professional league. The BAA became the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1949, and today the NBA is the world's top professional basketball league. Most of the world's best players are with NBA teams, attracted by the competition's popularity, its high standard of play, and the high salaries.

How the Game Works
Basketball is played on a rectangular court 28 metres long and 15 metres wide (approx. 92 ft by 49 ft) with a basket at a height of 3.05 metres (10 ft) at each end. Most indoor courts have a floor made of wood. Points are scored by throwing the ball through the opponents' basket. A goal scored from inside the three-point line earns two points (see diagram at right), and a goal scored from outside the three-point line earns three points, and goals from free throws earn one point.

NBA games are played over four quarters of twelve minutes. Teams include twelve players, but only five can be on court at one time. Players can be substituted as often as the coach likes. Each coach has a limited number of time-outs they can call during a game, and the game clock is stopped whenever play stops. Several officials oversee each game, including three on-court referees who call fouls, and table officials who keep score, run the game and shot clocks, and keep track of fouls and substitutions.



Violations and Fouls
The ball can be moved by throwing it to another player (calledpassing) or by bouncing it with one hand while running or walking (called dribbling). If a player moves both feet without bouncing the ball, he commits a violation called travelling. If he uses two hands while dribbling, he commits a violation called double-dribbling. If a player's hand moves under the ball while dribbling, he commits a violation called carrying the ball. Violations are also committed when time-limits are exceeded, and usually result in a free inbound pass for the opposition team.

A personal foul is committed when a player challenges another player unfairly, such as by blocking their run or hitting their arms. A player or coach who argues with a referee commits a technical foul. Fouls can be punished with a free inbound pass, free throws at goal, or with sending off. A player who commits five fouls, or six in the NBA, can no longer take part in the game and is said to have been 'fouled out'.

Shots and Passing
Players shoot for goal with a set shot if both feet are on the ground, or with a jump shot if the player is in mid-air. Other shots are the lay up (shooting, often off the backboard, while moving towards the basket) and the slam dunk (shooting straight down from above the basket). Passing can be done with a chest pass, a bounce pass or an overhead pass. More difficult passes are the no-look pass and the behind-the-back pass, though some coaches don't like these techniques because they can easily go wrong.
